FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK….
This week I would like to introduce our new pastor,
Fr. Maurice Moreau, OFM Cap. He has been nominated
by the Province of St. Mary to become pastor of
Sacred Heart as of September 1, 2008. Fr. Moe,
as he prefers to be called, entered the Capuchin Order in
1992 and was ordained to the priesthood at Sacred Heart in
1998. He was made a pastor less than a year after ordination
and has served as Pastor of St. Joseph's Parish in New Paltz,
NY for the past 9 years. Fr. Moe is no stranger to Sacred
Heart since he often serves as Master of Ceremonies at our
Capuchin celebrations. He is a multi-talented person with a
lot of energy and, I believe, will be a good shepherd for
the people of Sacred Heart.
In addition, we are happy to
welcome Br. Michael Loerch, OFM Cap. as a
part-time member of the Pastoral Staff of Sacred Heart. One
of the areas that surfaced in our recent Pastoral Council
discussions about the needs of the parish was youth
ministry. It is our hope that Br. Michael will be able to
work with parents, other parishioners, school faculties and
administrations to address this pastoral challenge in an
enthusiastic way. He will also minister as part-time
Chaplain at Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry.
